2015 Winter Gallery

A Preview of Winter 2015 Class Projects!

First, here are the initial projects for each of our Weekly Quilting Classes.

Carolyn is teaching a class on six Sunday afternoons based on the marvelous, bestselling book by Tula Pink:  100 Modern Blocks. She has been working on not one but two sets of blocks: one using Cotton + Steel and another set using only tones of black, gray and white.  (She also has a third set with Civil War fabrics; but we’re not supposed to mention that one.)  Sue has finished a set of blocks using fabrics that are definitely “outside of the box” but she wants to keep it a secret until her quilt is assembled.  Sarah is also using Cotton + Steel.  Linda is using her stash of Christmas-themed fabrics.  Heather has just started her own blocks using Stepping Out, a black/red/white fabric line from Henry Glass.  (You can see this fabric line in Carolyn’s Southern Comfort quilt below.)  Even Jim is doing a set using the Bittersweet fabric line from Benartex.

The All-Level Quilting classes will start out with the Battlefield quilt, a lovely pattern for either Civil War or modern fabrics.   The Battlefield pattern will also be taught as one of the Weekend Classes.

The Beginners and Advanced Beginners class will start with a table runner/lap quilt based on the Southern Comfort quilt.

Sue is teaching a class of Sampler Quilts and students can select any of eight magnificent quilt kits (or patterns) offered at the shop.  How much fun is that?  Here are photos of Middlebury, Women of Courage, Primrose Hill, Vintage Rouge, The Mill Girls, Hampton Ridge, House Warming Party, and Civil War Tribute.

Sarah, our in-house Certified Deb Tucker Instructor, will be teaching three classes this season.  In the first of our Weekend Workshops, she will show you how to make perfect Lemoyne Stars with no Y seams.  The following week Sarah will show you how to use Deb Tucker’s Diamond Rects ruler to create Deb Tucker’s Sea Glass pattern.

Need a quilt finished in a flash?  Sue will show you how to race up the Shaker Ladder.  The following week she will share her very own interpretation of a Tweed Bag from Ireland.

Log cabin quilts are a perennial favorite but the Log Cabin Bead pattern is one with a twist that gives the appearance of curves.

Who of us has not had a problem with flipped corners?  Sue will teach you how to use Deb Tucker’s newest ruler, the Corner Pop, to make perfectly shaped blocks.  You won’t believe how versatile this ruler is!  This is one ruler that will not spend its days lost in a dark corner.  Your seam ripper may end up in that dark corner instead!

Star Rubies is not your ordinary quilt pattern.  Join Sue for a fun day!

Sarah returns for the last class, a two day class, to show you how to make Deb Tucker’s Northern Neighbors quilt. With a combination of precision trimming and precision piecing using Deb Tucker’s Corner Beam, Split Rects, and WingClipper-I rulers, you too can sew this stunning quilt.

If your schedule, or distance, does not allow you to join us in person, why not try one of our online classes:  Farmer’s Wife or Dear Jane?  Here are photos of Sue’s first Farmer’s Wife quilt (yes, she is working on another one) and some of her Dear Jane blocks.  Here also is a Farmer’s Wife quilt made in batiks by Rosalie, one of our online students!

Good-Bye Fall & Hello Winter 2018!

It was a quick fun fall season with lots of great classes. There were many new students learning new techniques.  Lots of changes happening this fall at Country Treasures.
Our business manager, James Adams, is moving from Chester, Vermont to Italy!  We will miss Jim very much and wish him much success in his new endeavors.  Jim became a very talented quilter during his employment here.  No pattern was too difficult.  He thrived on challenges!!
Heather Allen has taken over his position and is doing an excellent job at transitioning over into the office area.  Good luck to Heather in her new roll.
Carolyn will be welcoming her first grandchild into her family in early January.  She has decided to take a break from the classroom for awhile so she can spend some time in her new role of grandmother.  Carolyn will still devote her time to long arming and keeping the shop up to date with new notions, books and patterns.  New rulers from Quilters Select are in stock.  A must have!  These rulers have a unique non-slip coating, easy to read lines for measuring as well as multiple angles.  You never loose your place or have to count backwards.
Sue has been rearranging the store with Laurie.  You can no9w find our Flannel area downstairs in the front room.

SAVE A TREE! If you use email and have an email address, we would like to be able to make this available to you through your email. Please send us an email at sue@vermontquilting.com and we will make the switch.
