Vermont Quilt Festival
We
are looking forward to The Vermont Quilt Festival, June 28th – June
30th. Country Treasures will be open for extended hours on Sunday, June
30th and Monday, July 1st from 10 AM until 5PM for those
of you heading home or just for a day of shopping. We will be closed on Thursday, the Fourth of
July.
Music in the Meadow – with a Quilt by
Sue
Music
in the Meadow is an inspiring annual musical event in our village of Chester. This
concert event takes place on June 22nd from 12:30 to 7 PM and June
23rd from 11 AM until 3PM – with benefits going to The Race for the Cure.
Country Treasures has donated a beautiful quilt “Manchester Manor” pieced by
Sue and quilted by Carolyn worth over $1200 to be raffled at this event for

Falling
Leaves Retreat
We
are happy to announce our 4th Annual Falling Leaves Retreat on
November 5th – 10th, 2013. Letters will go out in a few
weeks to our previous November retreaters. If you are interested in
participating and want to be put on our waiting list, please call us or email
us ASAP. We have a lot of new and special ideas and great fun planned for all!!
Spring Quilters’ Weekend
Our
6th Annual Spring Quilters’ Weekend retreat was a huge success with
so many wonderful ladies sewing and completing many projects. Show + Tell was
fabulous with many beautiful quilts! We
are already working on plans for our next spring retreat May 29th –
June 1st, 2014!!!
Staff News
Sue
spent two afternoons at Grafton Elementary School with the kindergarten class
that includes her granddaughter, Jacqueline.
She spread a pile of two sizes of squares across the floor for the kids
to pick pieces to make a quilt block. Of
course, the girls headed for pink and purple and the glittery ones. One boy managed to pick all the pieces of the
same truck fabric but Sue explained that you needed different fabrics to
make a pretty quilt block. Then Sue sat
at the sewing machine with each child and showed them how to sew the pieces
together which included the trick of letting the sewing machine pull the fabric
away from you. It was hard for some kids
to let go of their pretty fabrics! Each
child signed their block before Sue took them all home to assemble into a
snuggle quilt to send to the children in Moore, Oklahoma. We have posted a photograph of the children with
Mrs. Hyler and the completed quilt on our blog at www.vermontquilting.com. 
Despite
her brace, Sue went on vacation to Disney World with her grandchildren and had
a wonderful time. She promises to bring
some photos in to share on our blog.
Carolyn is just back from her first cruise to Bermuda with her husband
and other family members. She is well rested and still feels like she is
rocking!
Class Schedule
Our
Fall Newsletter will be out in August with many new and exciting classes. Carolyn will resume her machine quilting
classes this fall! Sue has many new
ideas and patterns to share.
