2018 Fall Newsletter
&
Class Schedule with Pictures
The summer has been a very busy one indeed! Sue and her Quilts of Valor volunteers worked steadily on our effort to give 40 quilts to well deserved veterans of Vermont on a special presentation right On The Green in Chester.
The theme of Row by Row Experience was “Music”. Sewing enthusiasts enjoyed “Song Birds Singing Love Songs”. We had a winner of our Row by Row for both the first and second prize, Ann Stone from Bridport, Vermont. Ann did a beautiful job in creating this year’s row by Row Experience. We will have it on display in the shop.
We are adding wool to our inventory this late summer to get ready for our Fall and Winter classes. Please come in and see what we have on display from, Primitive Gatherings hand dye wool to Moda wool. We have several wool appliqué patterns from Crane Designs, Buttermilk Basins and our local wool appliqué newcomer and Springfield Native Jerome Thomas Design. What a great time of year to pick up some wool appliqué.
Carolyn will begin a beginner fall wool appliqué class to get you started!
Fall classes are busy planned with many new ideas and techniques. Sue has been creating multiple samples of North Stars by Elizabeth Hartman along with fun varieties of penguins!
Carolyn will be showing you the new Jelly Roll Rug technique, what a fun way to use scraps or Jelly Roll bundles!
Our classroom is filled with many new samples of exciting quilting projects.
New this year is our “Free Style” Retreat. This 3 day event will begin Friday, November
2nd and ends Sunday November 4th @ 3pm. Each day begins at 9:30am with Friday and
Saturday ending at 10:00pm. Beverages
and snacks are provided each day but your meals are “on your own”. Chester provides many dining options and
several choices right here On the Green.
Meals on your own help lower the cost of the retreat, making it an
affordable price of $125 per person. Limit
is 12.
Every 1st Friday of each month, the mornings will be dedicated to working on Quilts of Valor. We need quilters to cut fabric, iron, sew, bind, and/or attach labels. Bring your own fabric or work on one of the many kits I will have ready. All quilts made will be donated to veterans from Vermont. I appreciate any and all help! Please sign up in advance to ensure everyone has a seat! The first class in September will be held on a Thursday only. *See our class schedule.
